Autowaves are self-supporting, non-linear waves in active media. The term is generally used in processes where the waves carry relatively low energy, which is necessary for synchronization or switching the active environment.
In the theory of autowave phenomena an autowave reverberator is an autowave vortex in a two-dimensional active medium. The reverberator appears as a result of the gap in the front of the plane waves. Such a gap can occur, for example, through involving front impact with a nonexcitable obstacle. In this case, depending on the conditions, either of two phenomena may occur: a spiral wave, which rotates around the obstacle, or autowave reverberator which rotates with Free advice.
Hypothalamic–pituitary–thyroid axis is part of the neuroendocrine system, which is responsible for regulation of metabolism and response to stress. Thyroid hormone exerts negative feedback control through the hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary, controlling, thus, both of TRH by hypothalamus and TSH by the pituitary gland. SimThyr is a free continuous dynamic modeling of the pituitary-thyroid control system with feedback. The program is open source based on the nonlinear model of the homeostasis of the thyroid gland. In addition to modeling in the time domain the program supports different methods of sensitivity analysis. It provides a graphical interface that allows to visualize time series, change constant parameters of the feedback structure, storage of parameter sets in XML files and export the simulation results to various formats suitable for statistical software. SimThyr is primarily intended for educational purposes and as virtual studies.
